£40,000,000 in National Savings
VOLUNTARY EFFORT FAR BETTER (British Official Wireless.) Received Thursday, 9.30 p.m. RUGBY, Jan. 3. Lord Mottietone, chairman of the National Savings Movement, announced on Wednesday that tho total raised by the campaign now exceeded £40,000,000. He said he could not support the proposal that compulsory savings should be introduced. ‘‘l am quite sure,” he said, “that it is far better for the savings of the people to be the result of their own voluntary effort.”
