Rev. K. D. Lord, who is a member of the Church of England’s Society for the Propagation of the Gospel, and who has been 22 years in China, has returned to the Dominion. Dr. W. A. Riddell, M.A., Ph.D., 8.D., the nCwly-appointed High Commissioner for Canada in the Dominion, has had a distinguished scholastic and diplomatic career. He became director of social surveys for the Presbyterian and Methodist Churches in 3913, superintendent of trades and labour to the Ontario Government in 191 G, deputy Minister of Labour in 1919, and was chief of section, International Labour Office, League of Nations, from 1920 to 1925. Dr. Riddell was elected dean of the Diplomatic Corps of Permanent Representatives resident in Switzerland accredited to the League of Nations in 3 932. He was awarded the Columbia University Medal in 1929 in recognition of his distinguished public service. His wife, formerly Miss Mary Gordon, is a nieco of Dr. C. \V. Gordon, better known under his pen-name of Ralph Connor.
