Graf Spee Prisoner. Tfce one Aucklander among the British prisoners landed at Monte Video from the German pocket battleship Admiral Graf Bpee was Mr. Archard D. Dixon, son of Mrs. Margaret Dixon, of 26 Brighton Boad, Parnell. He left Auckland on October 13, and sailed from Sydney 10 days later ns a deck boy on the Tairoa to get his passage to England. A few days before the ship reached Cape Town he celebrated his 21xt birthday. The Tairoa was sunk by the Graf Spee on December 3. Mr. Dixon was born in Swanage, England, and received part of his education in China. No Christmas Day Thera were some people who were unable to celebrate Christmas Day on December 25 simply because that day was for them wiped off the calendar. They were members of the United States Antarctic Expedition at present in Dunedin on board the North Star. On the voynge out they crossed the <inte line on the night of December 24 with the result that when they awoke next morning it was December 20. Even though they had missed Christmas Day according to the date, they did not overlook the celebrations, and a Christmas tree, a bauta Claus, a Christmas dinner and a special concert were among the items on the programme tor the day.
