Promotions for R.A.F. New Zealanders

Received Monday, 9.30 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 31. • The Air Ministry announces New Tear temporary promotions of the following New Zealanders: Group captain to air commodore: F. H. M. Maynard, of Waiuku; wing commander to group captain, H. B. Russell, of Hastings; flight lieutenants to squadron leaders, D. P. Lee, of Auckland, and T. G. LovellGregg, of Wanganui.

PAKIh:; The Germau authorities shot Professor Czeslaw Bialobrzesci, the physicist who succeeded Madame Curie on the League of Nations Committee of Intellectual Collaboration, for allegedly supplying arms and ammunition to Polish troops. His friends say the explosives which the Nazis claim they found in his laboratory were merely a small quantity of chemicals for experiments.
