British Battleship Torpedoed
LITTLE DAMAGE DONE (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Dec. 29. The Admiralty announced this afternoon: 44 A torpedo attack has been mada on a British battleship by a U-boat. Some damage vras caused and three men were killed." It is learned that the ship is one of the Queen Elizabeth class, vessels of 31,000 tons, of which there are five. The German Supreme Command today announced: 44 A German submarine torpedoed a battleship of the Queen Elizabeth class west of Scotland." Inquiries at the British Admiralty today elicited the information that the battleship referred to in this afternoon’s announcement is the same ship as that referred to in the communiqu# issued by the German High Command. It can be stated that the battleship is safe and is proceeding on her course. The Admiralty later announced that the torpedoed battleship reached harbour under her own steam. Hhe is not seriously damaged, but an additional rating is reported missing ami believed killed, while one is seriously injured.
