New Year’s Eve in Feilding
OLD YEAR PLAYED OUT BY HIGHLAND BAND A moderate crowd of midnight revellers sojourned to Manchester Square, Feilding, on Sunday night to see the passing of the old year, which was enthusiastically played out by the Feilding Caledonian Pipe Band, which paraded about the town and main thoroughfares. The crowd joined in singing and other harmless jollifications as the Post Office clock chimed midnight and the New Year was born. At the Feilding Agricultural High School, where the- W.E.A. Summer School camp is being held, the students held a merry sing-song to celebrate the passing of the Old Year and the birth of New Zealand's Centennial year. Carols and popular song hits were sung with enthusiasm, the melodious voices spreading in the still night air to mingle with the distant Highland music.
