Powerful Finn
MAGISTRATE ’ S REMARK Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Dec. 29. “If all Finns are like this man it is no wonder the Russians are retreating,” said the Magistrate, Mr. C. R. Orr Walker, referring to a Finn, of powerful physique, named Amor Gohannes Fagerholm, aged 30, motordriver, who was charged in the Police Court with assaulting two men, a woman, and a police constable, and also with using obscene language. He pleaded guilty. The police said that at 10 p.m. on December 21 Fagerholm and a woman had a difference in front of a city boarding-house. He knocked the woman down and when bystanders protested he assaulted them and had to be handcuffed by a constable. On arrival at the police station he assaulted a constable. Remarking that Fagerholm had a long list of previous convictions, tho Magistrate sentenced him to one month on each of tho assault charges, the terms to be cumulative. On the obscene language charge he was ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within a year.
