Mr. P. K. liardie, assistant-purser on R.M.S. Niagara, is spending his annual leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Hardie, Fitzherbcrt Avenue. The Mayor, Mr. A. E. Mansford, accompanied by Mrs. Mansford and liis niece, Miss Cccile Jones, of Dunedin, leaves this morning to spend New Year at the Chateau, Tongariro. Archdeacon Hansell has resigned from the position of Archdeacon of Wellington. Rt. Rev. H. St. B. Holland has appointed Archdeacon Bullock, who has been Archdeacon of Wairarapa, to fill the vacancy. Bishop Holland has appointed Rev. E. J. Rich, Vicar of Masterton, to be Archdeacon of Wnirarajia. —Press Assn. Staff-Sergeant C. Weddell was the guest of honour at a farewell social tendered to him and held in Mr. Callesou’s barn, Longburu. Tho building, which was appropriately decorated for tho occasion, was filled to capacity, singing, games and dancing occupying the larger portion of the evening. Mr. Weddell, who is an ex-pupii of the Longburn School, was presented with a razor shaving outfit by his former teacher, Mr. C. C. Hills, who extended best wishes for a safe return to the guest of honour on behalf of all present and his many old school chums. Mr. Weddell suitably replied. Mr. Keith D. Anderson, M.A., of Wanganui, has beeu appointed headmaster of the North Sydney Church of England Preparatory Grammar School. Mr. Anderson was educated at the Hamilton High School and later attended tho Auckland University College. He took up teaching as a profession, and joined tho staff of the Takapuna Grammar School. Ho next joined the staff of the Dunedin Technical College, and has lately been on the staff of the Wanganui Technical College. Mr. Anderson, who is a former well known Auckland University and Auckland Rugby representative footballer, will leave for Sydney early in the Now Year. Tho death has occurred at Invercargill of Mr. R. M. Isaacs. He was in turn district railway traffic manager at Ohakune, Dunodin, Wellington, Invercargill and Christchurch. Mr. Isaacs was born at Dunedin 70 years ago. He represented Otago at Rugby from 3587 to 1892, and was a member of tho management committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union for 13 years. He managed the All Blacks in Australia in 1914, and was one of the founders of tho New Zealand Rugby Referees' Association, of which he was a life member. He was also a member of the Now Zealand Rowing Association and the New Zealand Boxing Association.
