They were both proud of being men of tho world, but probably James was possessed of a more worldly wisdom than Ted. “Old fellow,’’ he said, “you can’t kiss a girl unexpectedly.’’ “Oh, yes, you con!” rotorted Ted, indignantly. “I have!” James shook his head. “That’s what you think,” he replied gravely. “The nearest you can come to it is to kiss her sooner than she thought you would.”
