INTER-ISLAND STEAMER’S ROUGH TRIP
(By Telegraph—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 28. Six hundred passaogers on the inter sland steamer Rangatira had a rough rip last night, the vessel reaching Lytclton two hours late. She encountered a southerly storm i Cook Strait. All train services were clayed to enable the passengers to ike connections.
Fine and Wanner Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Dec. 28. The recent depression has passed away to the east and there has been a considerable rise in the pressure over the Dominion. Winds: Light to moderate and variable over the western and southern areas of the South Island; elsewhere light to fresh southerly to south-wester-ly prevailing. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough between East Cape and Banks Peninsula with a considerable swell but decreasing; elsewhere slight or moderate. Eastern Tasman: Light to moderate southerly winds, later becoming variable and slight seas. Weather: A few passing showers still possible in tho Hawke’s Bay-Poverty J Bay area, but otherwise fair to fine generally. Temperatures becoming warmer. YESTERDAY’S WEATHER Auckland: Sun and cloud, moderate Wind. Hamilton: Sun and cloud, moderate Wind. New Plymouth: Sunshine, moderate wind. Gisborne: Overcast, moderate wind. Napier: Light rain, light wind. Palmerston North: Cloudy, light breeze. Mastcrton: Overcast, moderate wind. Wellington: Sun and cloud, moderate wind. Blenheim: Sunshine, light wind. Nelson: Sunshine, light wind. West Coast: Sunshine, light wind. Christchurch: Sunshine, moderate wind. Timaru: Sun and cloud, light wind. Dunedin: Sun and cloud, calm.
