From Our Own Correspondent. / Mr J. Montague of Hamilton is ing the holidays as the guest of Mrs M. Guests of Mr and Mrs W. G. Eislng; for the holidays are Mrs Doogan and Misses L. and C. Doogan of Lower Hutt. Mrs Wylie Senr., Hawera, and Messrs E. Wylie and K. Ridyard, Wellington, are guests of Mr and Mrs A. R. Wylie. Mr and Mrs J. Gregory are away visiting the capital city. Mr and Mrs W. Story of Takapau are guests of Mr and Mrs R. Gregory. Mf K. Creagh, Brunnerton, Greymouth. is visiting*his sister, Mrs. W. Eislng and 2.1 r. Eislng. Mr and Mrs T. Donovan, Napier, with their family, are staying with Mr and Mrs Calaghan, and Mr and Mrs Donovan *re guests of Mr and Mrs R. snrtt. Mr and Mrs D. Weld of Martou spent the Christmas holidays with Mr and Mrs W. F. Day. Mr Gordon Eddie of Wellington Is spending a holiday with his parent*. Miss M. Creagh arrived on Wednesday from Greymouth to visit her sister, Mrs W. Eislng. Opossums are, of recent years, becoming gradually a greater nuisance to settlers by reason of their habits of plundering gardens and orchards. Two young ladies had a somewhat startling experience In the early hours on a recent morning when their slumbers were disturbed by a rattling at their window and they awakened to see a large opossum scrambling down from the open upper part of the window. After a long Illness Mr Frank Bibby, a well known and highly respected resident ef Mangahao passed away suddenly on Tuesday evening at his home.
