TANKER CREW’S DARING FEAT United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Thursday, 7.15 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 28. How the crew of tho tanker Ban Alberto tried to navigate half of the vessel to port after a German torpedo bisected her on December 9 is revealed by the crew who escaped in four boats just before the forepart sank. The captain and occupants of three boats regained the part which was found to be staunch. They raised steam, switched on the lights, went slow astern to prevent waves ripping off tho plates whenever she faced head seas. The crow were eventually rescued by a destroyer.
