Foxton Beach
From Our Own Correspondent. With the exception or a slight sprink- ! ng O' rain at midday on Christmas Day, j and heavier showers during the night, the f weather was fine and warm for the week- j end holidays. Family picnic parties were • much in ev’rfence on Sunuay aim Aionuay, and many holiday-makers settled into cot- j tages or camps. On Coxing Day a con- , • cant stream of ears rolled in, more especially in the forenoon, to park in sheltered places, where they were very thickly ; clustered together at various points. Bathing came into its own once again, and sunburnt backs and limbs were the penalty in many instances. Owing to a fresh westerly breeze and un : unfavourable tide on Boxing day, officials 1 of the Manawatu Boating Club decided to postpone the opening of the season until January 2nd, when there should be an adequate tide for the purpose of all-day boating.
