From Our Own Correspondent. Aliss F. AlcLaren has left to spend the vacation in touring the • South Island. Pvt. M. Alextcd and Airs Afcxted who have been spending a few days with Mr and Airs G. Nicol have returned to Tawa Flat. Air and Airs Smith and family, Auckland arc the guests of Air. and Mrs. R. Miller. Miss B. Biltpn is spending the vacation in Plimmcrton. Rev. A. Fothcringham, Tokomaru Bay, was a visitor to Halcombe. Pvts. F. and A. McKiijley are visiting and Paekakariki. . Aliss O. Iverr is spending the vacation in Levin and Wellington. Alcssrs. D. C. and R. J. Alanagli, Airs. C. Alanagli and Aliss G. Fergusson have returned from Taumarunui. Aliss P. Francis, Taumarunui, is the guest of her aunt Airs. J. 1.. Fergusson, Tokorangi. Aliss Wernham, Tokorangi, is spending the vacation ip Auckland. Air. and Airs. E. Long have arrived to spend a holiday with Air. and Airs. C. C. Bleakley. Air. D. Holley has returned from annual leave. Air. H. Thurston has been transferred to Shannon. Aliss K. Owen, Wellington, is spending a holiday with her sister, Airs. G. Nicol. Aliss M. Anderson was a week-end visitor to Wellington. School Concert. There was a record attendance at the school concert and the committee funds benefited to the extent of £25. “A Christmas Alossage ’ ’ was played by the primer classes and Stds. 1 aud 2. There was much merriment when Father Christmas with a running commentary in verse handed each child in the primer classes a prize. The next item was a ribbon dance staged by tho following senior girls—Pam Judd, Eileen Wislinowsky, Lois Wilson, Betty Adams, Juno Wilson, Shirley Spicer, Norma Prior, Ngairc Te Punga, Clarice Garnett, Jean Alalone and Doris Thow, Inspector Spot in ‘‘The Case of tho! Alissing Pencil” was amusingly played by Ngaire To Punga, Eileen Wishnowsky, Edwin Cowdrey, Edgar Brett, Basil Alortimer and Gordon Wapp. ‘‘Tho Fifth Form of St. Alfred’s” was an amusing playette. Tho players were Gordon Wapp, Basil Alortimer, Doug. Bryant, Bruce Alilcs, Trevor Wishnowsky, Eddio Scliaeren, Harold Anderson, and Graham Dais. The balance of the programme featured ‘‘The Radio Players” by senior girls and boys. At tho conclusion Air. E. W. Cowdrey, chairman of tho school committee, presented the prizes, after which he called on each member of tho staff to accept a token of the committee’s appreciation. Mr. Cowdrey mentioned that he was doing his utmost to facilitate the building of tho new school, which was a project long overdue. The headmaster (Mr. L. Atiller) gave a resume of the year’s activities and impressed on parents the necessity of eontinupd attendance on the part of the children throughout the year. After supper, dancing was Indulged in, tho music was supplied by Alessrs. N. Goile, R. Grantham, S. Swenson and J. Williams.
