NEW YEAR PAIRS TOURNEY DRAW FOR SECTIONS Arrangements for the Manawatu Bowling Centre’s New Year pairs tournament were completed at a meeting of the centre’s executive, when the draw for sections and greeny was made. Those present were Messrs J. A. Nash (president), E. Bary, T. L. Arnott, H. G. Mills, H. G. Shouler, A. Cooksley, E. H. Smith and J. J. O’Shea.

Mr. O’Shea, who was attending a meeting of the centre for the first time sinco his return from America, was extended a welcome by the president. Sixty-six entries, a new record for the tournament, havo been received, as against 64 last year, and they come from a wide area of the North Island. One notable entry is that of Mr. C. C. Clark, with whom Mr. A. Cooksley will play as lead, Mr. Clark being the secretary of the Suva Bowling Club. He is in New Zealand for the Dominion bowling tournament, to be held in Welling ton next month. Four games of 21 heads each will be played each day’, three bowls being used. Five wins will qualify for post-section play. The tournament is to be entered upon on New Year’s Day and welcomes will be expressed on behalf of the centre at 8.45 a.m. at the Hokowhitu green by Mr, Nash, at the Palmerston North green by Mr. Shouler, at the Takaro green by Mr. Cooksley, at the Manawatu green by Mr. R.
