Winds: Between south and west prevailing, strong in some exposed positions but moderating later; otherwise moderate to fresh in force. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough about Cook Strait and between Cape Kidnappers and Banks Peninsula; rather rough north of Farewell Spit; elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to fresh southerly to south-westerly winds; rather rough seas. Weather: Dull in eastern areas between East Cape and Banks Peninsula witn intermittent rain, but gradually improving; a few showers also in the far north, but otherwise fair to line.
