QUIET CHRISTMAS AT THE FRONT
LONDON, Dec. 25. This morning’s French war communique states: “Christmas morning—nothing to report.” The German communique states: “There has been a uiet day on the Western Front. German aircraft suspended their activity yesterday, but British aeroplanes flew over Heligoland Bay.” ALLIES TO DOUBLE ORDERS FOR U.S. PLANES WASHINGTON. Dec. 24. The expected doubling of the British and French purchases of American planes is regarded as giving a decisive margin of production in the race with Germany. Unexpanded industry here is capable of producing 1000 planes a month.
