Bear and. Beavers for Zoo.

A playful threc-year-old bear and two sleek beavers arc on their way to New Zealand as a gift from the Canadian National Parks to the municipal zoo at Wellington, says a Canadian report. A special diet was prescribed for this consignment of Canadian animals. A supply of poplar wood accompanies the shipment, as the diet of each beaver includes four to six sticks per day, together with a quarter of a cabbage and four carrots. The sticks have to be removed when peeled. The daily diet of the young bear includes one pound of fresh apples, two loaves of bread, and a pound of carrots. The Railway Department announces in this issue the running of the excursion train to Wellington on Friday, December 29. Attention is drawn to the altered departure time of the return train which will leave Wellington at 10 p.m. on Sundaj', December 31, instead of on Saturday night.
