From Our Own Correspondent, Christmas Party On Alonday night red and white streamers radiating from a large Christmas bell, and a stage with many colours, provided an attractive setting for the women's institute Christmas party. In addition coloured paper hats were worn by those present. The results of the competitions were as follows:—Lucky number paper hats, Mrs. Watkins and Rona Vallender; bed making (for men), W. Foster 1, L. Poupard 2; candle lighting, Mrs. Vallender, Air. L. Wallace, Enid Webb and J. Hill; nail driving, Airs. W. Boswell, Mr. Sullivan, Enid Webb, and B. Hill; tail on donkey, B. Baily and T. Watkins. The To Kawau band was in attendance and played selections. There was also a recitation by Aliss P. Hill, and a pianoforte solo by Miss N Bailey. At supper a large Christmas cake was cut and handed around. It n Vt de Mrs - Vo « l and iced by Mrs. C. h. Hamilin. The evening was finished up with dancing for all, the music being played by the band. During u,e month letters were sent on behalf of the Institute to three of their members—Mrs. J. Boyce and Miss JI. Vallender wishing them a speedy re-cov-ery from their recent operations and to Mrs Webb whose son has been seriously ill after an operation.
