From Our Own Correspondent. School Committee. At the monthly meeting of the Shannon school committee the matter of concreting the approach to the swimming baths was left In the hands of Messrs. Murrow and Birss, to act as seems advisable. Matters discussed at a meeting of .representatives of the School committee and the swimming club were agreed to. An offer of trees for beautifying the school grounds from the local branch of the Young Farmers' Club, was accepted and It was lett in the hands of Mesrs. Jamieson and Dickinson to decide the most suitable site and also the numbers and variety of the trees. It was resolved that Mrs. Roberts and Mrs. Murrow should be appointed to flu the vacancy on tne ucuia. clinic committee. The head teacher s report was favourably commented upon, the education board'si nspectors having expressed themselves as being satisfied with the school work. The number of passes was up to the average, and it was pleasing to note that every scholar in Standard li will receive & card of merit, enabling the holders to receive all the advantages of secondary education. It was pointed out that, owing to a decline in the roll, the services* of Mr. J. Burch would not be available during the coming year. Mr. Burch had proved himself to be a capable teacher and during the recent illness of the headmaster, .Mr. Dickinson, had ably supplemented the teaching staff, and had won the confidence and esteem of both pupils and teachers alike.
