MINISTER APPEALS FOR CARE ON ROADS

(By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 22. A special appeal for care on the roads during the Christmas holidays wa s issued by the Minister of Transport, Mr R. Semple, to-day. Mr Semple said that during the next ten days, traffic is expected to be the •veaviest ever recorded in New Zealand. Last Christmas 15 persons were killed and 340 injured on the roads. Unless much greater care was taken this Christmas, the accident toll would be very much greater than ever before. He wa s happy to say that New Zealand had the lowest accident rate per ten thousand vehicles of any country in the world, but this did not mean that the position in the Dominion could not be greatly improved.
