Attractive Trials at Ellerslie

Several attractive trials were record'd at Ellerslie this morning, where all Jie fast work took place on the course jroper, 45ft. from the rails. The going l vas excellent and the best efforts were 1 hose of Llandaff and Royal Bachelor sver half a mile, Che<fdington and Silver Quex over five furlongs and Disdain over six, while Baran and ?ern put up the best figures for a mile. Calula Boy ran three furlongs in 37 l-ssecs. He worked with plenty of lash. Great Swoop had a good deal in reserve throughout six furlongs in 1.8 1- He was going easily over the last lurlong. Aero King, who got the best of the start, was slightly in front of Kelly Dver four furlongs in 50 2-ssecs. After - running the first four furlongs in 55 2- Homily was under restraint at the »nd of seven furlongs, which took 1.35 1-5. This filly is in great order. A first-class trial over a mile was that of Baran and Pern, who recorded 1.42 4-5. Baran had a slight advantage s at the finish, but Pern was running on in great style after covering the last . six furlongs in 1.17 4-5. The Railway Handicap candidate Disdain impressed while running six fur- - longs in 1.16 4-5. The two-year-old Cheddington came home from the five furlongs in 1.2 2-5, time which was not bettered during the morning. Silver . Quex ran five furlongs in 1.2 2-5, which , was equal to the best of the morning. Beau Repaire, Serenata and Royal , Appellant were in that order at the conclusion of seven furlongs in 1.30 1 1-5, the last six furlongs being done in 1.17 2-5. Beau Repaire worked impressively and Serenata also shaped ’ well. Dictate and Sly Fox worked soundly 5 over a round, which occupied 2.7, the last six furlongs being run in 1.21 4-5, and Dictate, who finished in front, W3S ’ staying on the better cf the pair. Going well within themselves throughout, Catalogue and Beau Vite pleased more than Beaupartir while traversing a mile in 1.47, the last six furlongs being covered in 1.20 2-5. Catalogue was doing his work in good , style at the finish and Beau Vite shaped well. Beaupartir was showing 3 signs of soreness after he came in. [J Silver Stick was holding Odtaa in , | 1.4. They went fast early, covering 9 their first two furlongs in 24 3-ssecs. After runmrg his first furlong in 12 3- Royal Bachelor completed the halfmile in 49 4-ssecs, one of the best efforts over the distance. )
