Waipukurau Totalisator House Destroyed

MEETING BEING HELD AT HASTINGS TO-DAY Per Press Association. WAIPUKURAU, Doc. 25. Fire completely destroyed the totalisator house at the Waipukurau Jockey Club’s course at 1.15 o’clock on Sunday morning, the whole building and contents being gutted within half an hour. When the alarm was given the flames had a good hold and it was impossible for the Fire Brigade to effect a save. The origin of the fire is unknown, but the police are making investigations. The club is very unfortunate as all arrangements had been completed for the summer meeting, to be held on Boxing Day. However, the officials have been successful in arranging for the transfer of the meeting to Hastings and the programme will be held at that centre on Tuesday (to-day).
