Appeal to Fanners
NECESSITY FOR RESTRICTION WELLINGTON, Dec. 22. In a statement to the press to-day, •^ r * V 7”. W. Mulholland, Dominion president of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, said the reasons (which aroso out of war conditions) that made it necessary to take steps to conserve our supplies of petrol and to economise in the use of it had been corununicated to him confidentially. From this knowledge which he had of the position he could endorse the appeal now being made to practise strict economy in the use of our liquid fuel supplies. Accordingly, he appealed to farmers to practise strict economy in their use of liquid fuel, and also urged that if the licensing system should be renewed they would accordingly limit the amounts they named in their applications strictly to the quantity they would require if they were sparing in use.
