ENTRIES DUE ON JANUARY 6 Nominations for the Ashhurst-Po-hangina meeting on Anniversary Day (January 22) close with the secretary (Mr. J. A. McDonell) at 9 p.m. on Friday, January 5. The stakes to be offered total £ISOO and the programme is well balanced with the Ashhurst Cup £320, Hack Cup £225, open six and seven furlongs of £2OO and £175 respectively, hack hurdles £l5O, hack six and five furlongs of £l5O each, and Maiden £l3O. In addition the club pays rail freight (or equivalent in float charges) ono way, on horses from Taranaki, Wanganui, Wellington, Wairarapa and Hawke’s Bay. The meeting again coincides with the third day at Wellington, enabling horses racing there on tho first two days to return to Ashhurst for Anniversary Day.
