Auckland Wedding of Palmerston North Interest

FANCOURT—GIBSON Gold and blue were tho colours choseu for the wedding in Auckland on Wednesday afternoon of Miss Frances Mary Gibson, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Noel Gibson, of Mount St. John Avenue, Epsom, and Mr Thomas Lingard Fancourt, only son of the Very Rev. Dean and Mrs. W. Fancourt, of the Deanery, Parnell. Tho ceremony which was held at St. Mary’s Cathedral, was performed by the bridegroom’s father, Dean W. Fancourt assisted by Canon P. Houghton and the bride’s godfather, Archdeacon J. L. Young, of Wanganui. The service was fully choral, the cathedral choir and a choir of boys from Dilworth School, of which the bride’s father is headmaster, being in attendance. The organist was Mr. Edgar Randal. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of heavy gold faconne lame modelled on classical lines, the sleeves being almost Elizabethan in design with full shoulders and tapering lines at each wrist. Tho bodice was gathered into a high peak which formed the top of the simply-cut skirt, ending in a beautiful train. Her veil of Limerick lace mounted on fine net, which had been worn by tho bride’s grandmother and mother at their weddings, was caught to the head with cream arbutilons and she carried a bouquet of roses shading from deep cream to gold.

In attendance as bridesmaids were Miss Joan Gibson, sister of tho bride, Miss Roes Makgill, Miss Dorothy Gerard (Wellington) and Miss Dorothy Hosking (Ormondsville), Their frocks of sky bule sheer were embossed with flowers in two shades of blue and outlined with gold and silver thread and were made with heart-shaped necklines, puff sleeves and long flowing skirts. A single rose was worn by each bridesmaid at the side of her head and bouquets of apricot and gold-shaded gladioli and roses were carried. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Lieutenant Noel Gibson, a 3 best man and by the Rev. Rex Clarke, Mr. Gerald Nevins and Mr. Peter Johnston as groomsmen. Following tho ceremony a reception was held at “Kiama,” the home of the, bride’s parents. Owing to tho illness of the bride’s mother, tho guests were received by her father and the chief bridesmaid, Miss Jown Gibson. They were assisted bv Dean and Mrs. Fancourt, the latter wearing a navy bluo georgette frock and navy hat. She. carried a bouquet of bluo delphiniums.
