Fair to Cloudy WELLINGTON, Dec. 22. An anti-cyclone still covers the North Island, but pressure has fallen in the south. Winds: Freshening north to west winds from Taranaki and Hawke’s Bay southwards; light and variable in the far north. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough to rough about Cook Strait and south of Cape Egmont; elsewhere slight or moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: North-westerly winds, light in the northern portion with slight seas and fresh to strong in the southern portion with rough seas. Weather: unsettled in western and southerly areas of the South Island, with occasional rain, but elsewhere fair to cloudy. Temperatures: Mild to warm. YESTERDAY’S WEATHER Auckland: Cloudy, calm. Hamilton: Cloudy, calm. New Plymouth: Overcast, light wind. Gisborne: Sun and cloud, light breeze. Napier: Sun and cloud, light wind. Palmerston North: Cloudy, light breeze.
