CHRISTMAS BONUS TO UNEMPLOYED

10/- to 40/PAYMENT TO BE MADE IN JANUARY Per Press Association. WELLINGTON. Dec. 22. The Minister of Finance, Mr W. Nash, announced to-day that the Government had decided to pay a Christmas bonus 1 to persons in receipt of unemployment benefit from the Social Security fund. The bonus is 10/- for persons under 20 without dependants, 20/- for a single person aged 20 and over, and 40/- for married beneficiaries. The bonus will be paid to all persons who have received unemployment benefits in the week ending December 16, 1939, and who have received benefit for at least four weeks in the six weeks ending on that date. Payment will be made on January 3, 4, or 5. The unemployment benefit certificate (pink card) must be produced at the time of the payment.
