Christmas Carols At Public Hospital

METHODIST CHOIR’S VISIT The Methodist choif and friends, to the number of 30 voices, rendered a Christmas programme at the Public Hospital recently. So that the patients might join in the singing several wellknown carols were included. Mr. J. J. Boagey conducted and the Bev. W. E. Moore presided at the organ. During the evening, Father Christmas arrived and gave greetings to all in his own cheery style and then distributed stockings to the children, and small gift parcels to the patients and the nursing staff. In case they were too busy on Christmas Eve, he also left a stocking for the matron (Miss Ockenden) and Drs. Paterson and Watson. Following was the musical programme:—Carol, " O come all ye Faithful”; prayer, Bev. W. E. Moore; the Lord’s Prayer was chanted; carol, "Still as the Night”; solo, "The Dream of Paradise.’ * Mr. J. W. Greaves; carol, "While Shepherds Watched"; duet, "Sweet Peace," Mrs. L. and Miss L. Ralph; carol, "The First Noel”; hymn, "All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name"; unison anthem with organ accompaniment, "The Lost Chord"; solo, "The Stranger of Galilee," Mr. Hutchinson; carol, "It Came Upon the Midnight Clear"; choral setting of "A Perfect Day"; Doxology. The choir was entertained at supper by the staff and Miss Ockenden gave thanks for the splendid evening.
