Swine Typhus In Waikato.

Swine typhus is causing considerable mortality among pigs in the Waikato, and one producer at Raglan has lost 40 animals recently. The outbreak of the disease, which is highly contagious, is causing considerable anxiety among pig breeders. “Is Mr. Semple here?” asked a late arrival at a stumping demonstration at Raetihi. “Too right he is,” came the answer. “Look at him up there with bulldozers to the right of him, bulldozers to the left of him, and a stump extractor behind.” The newcomer followed the direction in which the finger was pointing, and saw the Minister of Public Works, clothed jn an oilskin, a sou'wester and leggings, mounted on an “old man” rimu stump, directing three machines at once.
