Hitler’s Friend.

Fraulein Evehelen Braun, whom it was suggested Herr Hitler had married, has been his friend ever since 1928, when she met him in the photographic studio of Herr Heinrich Hoffman in Munich. She was then aged 17. Herr Hoffman is now the Fuhrer's official photographer. Soon after that Hitler installed his friend in a surburban villa in Munich, and though there has been no suggestion that their relationship has been other than platonic, Nazi censorship has allowded few references to her. Recently, howevor, photographs of Herr Hitler and Fraulein Braun together at Berchtesgadon were published iu America. Lived Up to Her Name. The Auckland Rowing Club’s new eight-oar boat was greatly admired by oarsmen on Saturday. The new craft was built iu Australia, and post £2OO landed in Auckland. She is named “Hinetere," meaning “Swift Lady." Iu the Somervillo Shield challenge race on Saturday tho boat not only lived up to her name for pace, but also proved an exceptionally good sea boat. In the heavy swell which got up under a fresh easterly breeze during the course of the race, the opposing eight-oared shell was swamped, and enthusiasts were surprised at the small amount of water shipped by tho Hinetere, which rode through tho rough water for an easy win.
