They were rehearsing for a big revue production and the call was for ten o’clock. The entire company had assembled, including some famous principals, the author, producer, stage director—in fact, everybody except one young woman who had been given a few lines to speak at the suggestion of someone financially interested in the show. Her arrival was awaited with growing impatience, and the producer was irritably consulting a handsome gold hunter for the umpteenth time. At last tho delinquent, pretty as a picture, tripped on to the stage, and I with what was doubtless intended for a disarming smile, greeted the company with a cheery "Good-morning, everybody!" The producer called her over to tho prompt table and, holding out his watch, remarked, "Good-morning ... Now have a look at this!" Taking it from his hand, she exclaimed, "Oh, isn't it lovely! Was it a presentation f"
