France’s Huge War Bill
£1,428,000,000 FOR 1940 Received Wednesday, 9.20 p.m. PARIS, Dec. 20. The French Finance Minister (M. Reynaud) announces that tho estimated military war bill for 1940 will be £1,428,000,000. The war credits for tho first quarter will be £357,000,000. BRITAIN'S ASTRONOMICAL FIGURES (British Official Wireless.) Received Wednesday, 9.20 p.m. RUGBY, Doc. 19. Exchequer returns give tho total ordinary revenue for the period April 1 to December 16 as £516,946,150 as compared with £471,063,90G for the same period last year. The total ordinary expenditure for this period was £814,453,037, compared with £713,767,375 last year.
