Mobilise All Our Resources!
No Easy Task To Beat Germany WARNING TO PACIFISTS AND COMMUNISTS Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL, Doc. 20. “Ninety per cent, of the people of this part of New Zealand believe in the mobilisation of all our resources of wealth and manpower and it will surely eventuate,” declared the Alayor of Invercargill (Mr. J. R. Hanan) at a civic farewell to the Southland members of the Special Military Force to-night. “The men of the Special Force had not waited or held back in voluntarily offering their services to the nation,” said the Alayor. “They are worthy successors to the main body of New Zealanders who left our shores 25 years ago. Their action may offer no material rewards, but they are blazing a trail which is an inspiration to us and a shining example to future generations.” Air. Hanan said that tho defeat ot Germany would be no easy* task, but, although the cost might be high, all would hope that the peace treaty this time would bo signed in Berlin. If it is signed in London they could safely assume that one of the German prizes of victory would be the incorporation of New Zealand in the Third Reich. “Our part, therefore, must be the maximum effort to subdue the common foe,” he added. “Great sacrifices will have to bo made by the people of New Zealand. Pacifists, Communists and others who appear to act as traitors should, and I think will, be dealt with more firmly than in the last war.”
