From Our Own Correspondent. The Labour Party branch held a dance on Saturday evening, the hall being just sufficiently filled to make dancing a pleasure. Music was supplied by a professional orchestra and cards arranged for those not wishing to dance. The wiTiners of the novelty dances were Mrs. E. J. Bowater and Air. L. Geange (Alonte Carlo), Mr. A. Burton and Miss Tantrum (lucky spot fox trot) and Airs. E. Calken and Air. A. Burton (lucky Gay Gordons). T7Te euchre prizes went to Mrs. W. Francis and Mr. C. Imrie. The supper arrangements were attended to by Mesdames PenI ney, Webby, Francis, Imrie and Bowater. Among the ladies present were:—Mesdames E. J. Bowater (Sanson), dusky pink floral georgette; B. Instead of the usual concert to end the school year, Aliss Laurenson, the local teacher, arranged a pleasant Christmas party for the children. The AlcKelvie Hall on Friday evening presented a gay scene when the pupils arrived in their colourful fancy frocks. Air. AI. Gould again presented the prizes, congratulating the winners of the special prizes and remarkmg how fortunate the Tangimoana schoolchildren were, since each child on the roll received a prize every year. The following special prizes were awarded:—Frank Spry Air. Gould's special prize for sport; Alargaret Young, writing; Valma Carkeek, progress; Grace Young, sewing; Duncan Young, writing; Harold Groucott and Don Scott drawing. The prize for the best miniature garden, encouraged by Airs B C. Waldegrave, was awarded to Irene Spry, while Eric Pine won the prize for his model farm. Both prizes were donated by Airs. Waldegrave and an anonymous donor sent along a special prize to Bob \ O V. ng lo , r m anliness.
