Mangamaire School
A NTS’UAL BREAK-UP CONCERT A packed house greeted the scholar* of the Maugamaire School when they presented their annual concert on Tuesday night. A splendid programme produced under the tnition of Mrs. Brace and Miss Macpherson was enthu-.-iastically received^ Items were: “Welcome, Welcome," Std. 2 boys; march, primers; popular souga, scholars; “Maypole," Stds. 1 and 2; “ The luvalid," .Stds. 3 and 4; play, “Rose of Joy," senior scholars; Irish Jig, Mona Ralph, Joy Udy and oan l'isher; “Turned Out," J. Fisher, B. Treder and Kay Mabey; “Buccaneer's Boots," senior scholars; Scotch Reel, J. Udy, M. Ralph, Gerald and Alan Welch; “Billy Bunter," senior scholars; “A Little Mistake," Stds. 2,3, 4 and 5. After the concert, supper was served by the ladies. Then Father Christmas arrived with his sackful of good things for all the children of the district, in* eluded iu his wonderful bag was a gift for each of the five members of tho school committee. Each member answered to his name, as in his boy* hood days, this causing so mo merriment. A pleasant gesture by the scholars was a gift to their teachers, Mrs. Bruce and Miss Macpherson. These, too, were smuggled into tho bag, and pro* seated by the mau of the moment. Mr. M. Lawson (chairman) praised the scholars' efforts. He then present* cd the awards won during the year: Mrs. Bruce’s prizes project, Std. 2 lan Wolland, Stds. 3 and 4 Mona Ralph, Std*. 5 and 6 Gordon Wilson; leaving certificates, Joy Udy, Alan Welch and Gordon Wilson; also special prizes donated by Mrs. Bruce to all the competitors in the calf rearing, J. Udy, J. Fisher, S. Matron, M. Ralph, P. Fisher, M. Roil, P. Wards and N. Lawson.
