Miss Jean Hunter, Palmerston North, has been visiting Wanganui. Miss Lorraine Major, Argyle Avenue, left on Tuesday to spend a few days in Hastings. Tho death is announced from London of Mrs. Rudyard Kipling. Mrs. G. A. Forrest and her sons, Queen Street, have left to spend the holidays at Raumati Beach. Mrs. W. L. Fitzherbert, Broadway, and her daughter, Mrs. E. W. Mills, 1 have returned to Palmerston North after a holiday at Raumati Beach. Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Dummer, York Street, Feilding, will have as their guests for Christmas, Mr. and Mrs. Emison Gilby, of Wellington. Miss Barbara Sandilands has returned to Wellington after spending three weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. N. Sandilands, “Midcalder," Feilding. Mr. and Mrs. Philip Mason, ( of Waipukurau, and their two sons are at the week-end journeying to Feilding to spend the holidays with Mr. and Airs. M. C. Ancell. Mrs. H. Y. Widdowson, of Christchurch, is visiting Palmerston North to farewell her son, Sergeant A. F. Widdowson, who will leave New Zealand with the Special Force. Miss M. E. Gillies, of Timaru, is arriving in Feilding this week to spend the Christmas and New Year holidays with her sister, Mrs. W. J. Borrie, Camden Street. Sister E. Worn, of New Plymouth, and formerly of the staff of the Palmerston North Hospital, was a visitor to Palmerston North this week. She has been selected to go overseas with the , first echelon of the Special Force and will be the first Taranaki nurse to go. Miss Elaine Ewen, accompanied by Miss Aileen McCaw, of Hastings, left Feilding yesterday by car for Wellingi ton, where they will be the guests of j Mr. and Mrs. Ben Ewen, of Lower Hutt, ’after which Miss Ewen will stay for . some time with friends at Plimmerton. I Airs. F. Thomson, of Kelburn, Wellington, her daughters, Alisses I. and M. Thomson, and Mr. and Mrs. J. L. McKissock, of Wadestown, will be guests during the holidays of Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Colquhoun, “To Rakihou," .Halcombe Road, Feilding. Among those travelling up from the South Island this week will be Air. and Mrs. Jack Goodbehere who, with their small son, intend staying for a time with Mrs. Goodbehere's parents, Air. and Mrs. A. Duthie, “Moturata," Kimbolton Road, Feilding.
