Miss Goldie has arrived from England by the Rotorua to take up a position on the teaching staff of Woodford House, Havelock North. Miss O. Fitchett, a member of tho teaching staff of Woodford House, Havelock North, who has had two years' leave of absence during which she toured England and the Continent, lias returned to resume her duties at t he beginning of this term. Mr and Mrs Tweedie, and family, Twyford, Hastings, after visiting Waibua, have left for Morer© and Wnikaromoana. Mr and Mrs S. Wickcns, of Whangarei, and formerly of Napier, who are touring the North Island, arc on a visit to Napier for a few days. Mr and Mrs G. F. Heard, Irongato road, Hastings, have left for a tour in the north. Mr and Mrs John Russell, Hastings, have been the guests of Mr and Mrs A. H. Russell, Ngatapa, Gisborne. Mrs Theo Field and Miss Audrey Field, Manutuke, Gisborne, returned homo yesterday from a holiday in Hawke’s Bay. Miss Mary Gillies, Hamilton, who has >een visiting her aunt, Mrs H. L. Primrose, Gisborne, is now visiting friend* in Hawke’s Bay. Mr and Mrs J. Hindman, Mrs E. W. Taylor and her daughter, and Miss N. Main, of Waipukurau, are taking part : .n tho Wanganui croquet tournament. Mr Neil McKinnon, Waihua Valley, ieft last week for the South, where he is to be married to Miss Hill, of Littlo Wanganui. Miss Rata Thompson, Muriwai, is paying a visit to her sister, Mrs December Hawkins, Waihua. Mr R. Hutt, Miss Hazel Hjutt, and Miss Addis, Tikokino, are spending a fortnight in Auckland. Mr and Mrs M. McLean, Bunnytborpe, are staying with Mrs R. J. Turney, Ongaonga. Mr H. C. Mason, Waipawa, has been appbinted by the Minister of Transport to issue certificates of fitness of motor vehicles under the new traffic regulations. Miss E. Gray and Mr aud Mrs E. W. Bond, who have been on an extensive tour of the East Coast district, have returned to Waipawa. Mr H. White, formerly a resident of Waipawa and now of Te Kuiti, is at present on a visit to Waipawa. Mr W. J. Drysdale, Wai roa, lias commenced duty at tht Waipukurau Post Office. Mr S. Hubbard, of the Waipukurau Post and Telegraph Department's lino staff, left on Monday on transfer to Palmerston North. Mr W. Yarwood, of the Waipukurau Post Office staff, has been transferred to Taupiri, and leaves next Monday. Mr A. S. Wilder, Waipukurau, is on a visit to Wellington. He is expected back early next week. The Rev. W. R. Hutchison and Mrs Hutchison have returned to Wuipukurau after their holiday. Mr Hutchison resumes his ministry next Sunday. Mr Somerset Playne, F.R.G.S., accompanied by Mrs Playne and their son, Mr Najt Playne, are staying with Mrs I'Jayne's mother, Mrs J. C. Standidge, "Fairfield," Waipawa. Mr Arthur Stewart passed away at the Napier Hospital early on Wednesday morning. After undergoing a serious operation six months ago he had not been in the best of health, but his death came as a shock. Air Btewart was 48 years of age. He was for some years in business in Ongaonga, first as a BlacKsrnith and later as a carrier. Ho is survived by a grown-up family of two sons, Douglas and Jack, and ono daughter, Lorna, all of Hastings. He also ha* three sisters, Alesdames E. Aiaher, Napier, O. Hopkins, Hastings, aud L. Wilson, Alartou, and three brothers, Messr* Louis, Hastings, Tom, Wairoa, and Arnold, Tutira. Messrs, hi. and Jt. Natuseb, Havelock North, are visiting Gisborne. Rev. H. Boyd-Bell has returned Inglewood after a holiday visit to Waipukurau. > Air. Ai. AIcU. Cooper, of Havelock North, captain of the Oxford University Rugby team, has decided to play for Leicester. He played twice for Scotland last year. Air. G. G. Stead left Hastings veiterJay to interview the Director of Aviation at Wellington. He will short ly be joining the staff of Cook ways as pilot. Mrs. O. Church and her son, Mr. F. CJiurck, of Hawera, are at present visiting Hastings. They are the guests of Mr. and Airs. J. Stickland. Constable R. W. Goodson, of the Hastings Police Force, left yesterday on his annual leave, which will be spent at Keri Keri, Bay of Islands. Air. and Airs. j. Scott, of Tomoana, have left Hastings for Wellington- en route to Sydney, where they intend to reside. Mr. J. A. Martin, of Hatuitai, Wellington, is spending a short holiday with his brother, Air. 11. A. Marlin, of Waipukurau. Mr. S. K. Macgregor, of the Wuipukurau staff of the Bank of New South Wales, has received notice of his transfer to the Victorian (Australia) division of the Bank. Air. Alaogregor leaves about the end of the month. I Air. W. P. Lee, of the Waipukurau | branch of the Public Trust Office, has received notice of hi* early transfer to the Wellington branch, llis place will be taken by Air. T. J. Barber, who is being transferred from Hamilton. Air. J. G. Phillipson, of n&tumu, has been appointed to the staff of the local branch.
