Royal Visit to British Industries Fair
BATTLE OF TACTICS BY HIGH COMMISSIONERS United Press Association—By Electrle Telegraph.—Copy rignu LONDON, February 16. A great crowd turned out to see tlio Royal Family inspect the Empire section of the British Industries Fair. The road outside the Olympia was black with a mass of people as Queen Mary and the Princess Royal, followed by the Duke and Duchess of Kent, and their Majesties, tho King and Quoen, arrived. Tho Duke and Duchess of Kent’s arrival was a complete surprise. Officially it was the first visit of the Duchess. Tho displays of Australia and New Zealand, which are tho first insido the door, got most attention from Royalty. / i tho Queen Mother and the Prin cess Royal arrived, there waß a swift tattle of tactics between Messrs Bruce and Jordan, who were standing beside their respective stalls. Mr. Bruce got | tho visitors to the Australian stand first. Here Quoen Mary had a short talk about the exhibits, and then Mr. Jordan by a touch t ’ wizardry lured the couple to the New Zealand stand where Queen Mary asked many questions about honey and butter production. She was joined by their Majesties, Queen Elizabeth recalling how she inspected a butter factory during her visit to New Zealand. The Royal party then moved off, but Mr Bruce triumphed a few minutes later when the party were passing the Australian stand. Again he had their Majesties inside the stall where they talked and laughed for some time, their Majesties showing keen interest in a large photographed reproduction of incidents of their Australian tour. Altogether the party spent about an hour, inspecting every stand beforo their departure.
