PERSONALITIES
Mr Franke of Albert street, Palmerston North, arrived home on Tuesday after spending a few days at Lake Taupo. The congregation of the MartonTutaenui Presbyterian Church has issued a call to Rev. T. H. Burton, 8.A., of Otorohanga. The Hon. Mr. Justice Whitney, a resident Judge at Singapore for tho last fifteen years, arrived at Auckland by the Awatea on Monday. He intends to spend a week in New Zealand before leaving by the Aorangi next Tuesday on his way to England, where he will spend his furlough. Rev. Dr. E. N. Herrington, master of Ivnox College, Dunedin, who has been abroad for several months, will leave Sydney by the Awatea next Friday on his return to New Zealand. Dr. Herrington attended the Institute of Pacific Relations Conference in California and the tercentenary of Harvard University. An oil painting of the late Mr. H. E. Holland was unveiled by the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage; at the Government caucus on Tuesday. The painting was presented to the Labour Party by Mrs. Holland, who was represented at the ceremony by her two sons, Messrs. Roy Holland and Harry Holland. It is to hang in the Government Whips’ room until a more suitable and more public place can be found for
