I ! (From Our Own Correspondent) Tennis Club. A meeting of the tennis comrnlttap was held on Friday evening: in the residence of the secretary, Mr W. Davies. Mr E. W. Cowdrey presided over the following: Mrs Davies, Miss V. Wilson, and Messrs K. J. Managh, W. Davies and M. C. Ainadio. It was decided that the silver button kindly presented by Mr (J. Win ton' bo awarded to the lady player showing the most improved form during the annual - handicap tourney. Messrs E. R. Dong, R. J. Managh and M. C. Amadio were apJ\ pointed judges to decide the winner. The ,!i committee decided that the usual handicap tourneys be held this year, with men s g* singles, ladies’ singles and mixed doubles. PI Boys’ and girls’ singles are also to be held gj for the junior members. For senior members, the entrance fee is to bo 1/- for singles and 6d each for doubles. No entry fee is to be charged for the junior compe- :«■ titions. Entries n..* both junior anil seiiV- ior competitions close on March 1, and I games will commence on March 7. The following were appointed handicappers:— Mrs R. J. Managh, Miss V. Wilson, and Messrs M. C. Amadio, R. J. Managh and E. R. Dong. The running and handicap--11 ping of the junior tourneys is to be left! in the hands of Mr Dong. In appreciation of the free use of the crockery belonging to the Hockey Club, the commitItee agreed to donate 10/6 to that club's funds, the secretary stating that the tennis club's funds were in a sufficiently healthy state to make the grant. Following a general discussion on the proposed 'pavilion on the recreation ground, the I meeting closed. Cricket. Despite the most unsettled conditions prevailing, the Halcombe cricket team journeyed to Marton over the week-end, and in a one-innings game managed to secure a win by the narrow margin of two runs, fne victory was largely due to the good effort of D.
