TOR INSPECTION OP CARS I Several inquiries have been made as i to the date on which the inspection } of cars and other motor vehicles is to t start. Under the new regulations all . motor vehicles are to be examined twice a year and will not be allowed on the roads unless they are in a fit state. The regulations state also that the warrants of fitness must be obtained by March 1, and there is thus very little time left. The position is that this year the regulations cannot bo enforced right away on March 1, for a great deal of ' preliminary work has to be done. For a time, until the examination " system shakes down, it is proposed that the examinations shall be made by i local body traffic officers, by Government officers in smaller centres, and also by approved garages, but later , the examinations will be made only by local body and Government officers. The necessary forms are not yet available, and the steady work of examining cars will not be commenced until the plans are completed. 1 Motorists naturally will not be penalised for their failure to obtain warrants or certificates before March 1 of thiß year, for a sensible margin of time will be alowed after the work is commenced.
