Poverty Bay Tote Increase Was £6992
TURANGA STAKES WON BY DE FRIEND. QUAINT'S HACK CUP. GISBORNE, Last Night. The most successful race meeting held in Poverty Bay for many years eventuated to-day when the Poverty Bay Turf Club concluded its summer fixture. The weather was fine until the last race when a shower of min fell. The going was good Und the tote investments for the day more than doubled the amount on the corresponding day last year, being £8728 10s, as against £-1326 10s, there being an increase of £4402. The total for the meeting was £14,113 as against £7121 last year, the increase being £6992. After an inquiry by the stewards, J. Walsh, rider of Tycoon, was suspended for one mouth for interference to B-ly-gain in the Harbour Hack on the first day.
