KAHLANGA The first meeting of the Kairanga Women ’a lustitue for 1937 was held on Tuesday, February 9. Mrs P. Leamy (president) extended a hearty welcome t» all. It was arranged to hold a committee meeting on Tuesday, February 23, at 8 p.m., in the hall. The pfcnic which was to have been held on Wednesday last was postponed until after the next meeting as a number of the members could not be present. Two very interesting demonstrations were given by Mrs Evans on wood, pulp flowers, and Miss Davison on French polishing. Both were much appreciated by the members. Mrs Leamy thanked the demonstrators. The competitions for March will be: Seniors, pOt of jelly and pot of jam; juniors, chocolate sponge with any filling or decoration. It was decided to send a letter of congratulations to Aliss J. Spencer. The competitions were won by the following: Seniors (best collection of vegetables), Mrs J. Cresswell 1, Mrs G. Davev 2f and Mrs H. Turner 3; juniors (worked guest towol), Miss 1. B'r-
[ meister 1, Miss T. Kilgour 2, Miss M. Small 3. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses
