Remanded But Failed to Appear

INCIDENT AT HASTINGS COURT. (Special to “Times.”) HASTINGS, Feb. 13. When I’hillip Neil Partridge, aged 35, of Hastings, failed to appear in the Hastings Court this morning to face a charge of being intoxicated while in charge of a motor-car, a warrant was immediately issued for his arrest. Shortly afterwards defendant was located fn an hotel in Heretauuga street. He was taken to the station, where he was locked up. He was to appear before Justices this afternoon at 4 o’clock. The defendant was’ arrested last night, and after being charged at the police station he was released on bail of £25 so that he could secure medical attention for an injured hand. When Messrs A. C. A. Hyde and A. .T. C. Runciman, J.P. ’s, arrived at the Court this morning to hear the charge, the defendant made no appearance. Sergeant Mclntosh then asked for a warrant *Tor tho arrest of the accused, which wars immediately issued and acted upon.
