(From Our Owu Correspondent) With the return of fine weather during past week, delayed farm work was rapidly dealt with. As a result of so much wir.dy weather In January the ground is very hard to work up for autumn and winter crops. Tho white butterflies nave emerged with the sunshine and many are to no seen fluttering over the turnip paddocks. Work on the Church Hill deviation is in lull swing and a nioto.-lorry is being used to expedite the filling in of the approach to tho new bridge. Some of the bridge-building machinery is already on' the site, and a start will be made on the structure at ail early date. Several unfortunate accidents have oe-» curred at the more dangerous points on the cliff excavations for the new road, but taking into consideration the number of men employed and the magnitude of* the work, mishaps have been few The milling contractors have completed the removal of fallen timber in the Tutara Reserve and while their work may have temporarily spoiled the beauty of the bush from a passing motorist s viewpoint, it-has nevertheless improved conditions for those who wish to stroll through tno bush with ease. The tractor has made firm tracks and an excellent view can be had ot the forest giants from any of the many cleared spaces. Personal. Mrs A.
