Good Guessing at A. and P. Show
RESULTS OF COMPETITIONS AT DANNEVIRKE. Three weight-guessing competitions were held on tho Dannevirke Showgrounds during Tuesday and Wednesday of this week (show days). Tho correct weight of tho bullock was 451b5., and the following are the three guesses most nearly correct: D. G. Crosse, private bag, Dannevirke, 453J1h5.; J. Thomson, 7 Alatthew street, Dannevirke, 4541b5.; and J. W. Dobson, Cadman street, Dannevirke, 454Jlbs. The five sheep weighed 3681b5., which was the estimate given by both K. Mathieson (Weber) and J. Gildea (Maharahara). Walter Bailey, Te Rehunga, guessed 3671b5., and R. E. Speedy, Claudius street, Dannevirke, was fourth with a guess of 3G9Jlbs. The single sheep tipped the scale at 1311b5., and in this connection no fewer than threo guessers were perfectly correct: L. A. Gichard, 39 Tennyson street, Dannevirke; T. J. Bui, Matamau, and E. James, Dannevirke. Strangely enough, the next three nearest the correct weight were identical, each estimate being 131$lbs. They wero as follows: S. W. Ellingham (Ormondville), Airs. Angus Watson (Dannevirke), and J. Gildea (Alaharahara).
