Gaol Keys Give Prisoners Freedom
Spend Nights Joyriding and Dancing REMARKABLE REVELATIONS United Press Association— -By Electric Telegraph. —Copyright. Received Friday, 8.55 p.m. LONDON, Feb. 12. Illustrating the truth of the 1 philosophy that stone walls do not a prison make, it is revealed that prisoners in Guernsey have been strolling out almost every night for two years, returning for breakfast. The disclosure followed tho discovery that a prisoner was missing from his cell late at night and returned at 5 a.m. He is serving a long term and his privi leges included an unlocked cell at nights because he stayed up after the warders had gone to bed, laying fires Sd washing dishes. He also occasiony washed the gaol keys of which he took an impression. He then duplicated them in the prison workshop. These hi. shared with his fellow prisoners, averaging four to eight in number, who spent the nights dancing, visiting their homes and joyriding in stolen cars.
