This was paid by the Kaiapoi Woollen Manufacturing Company, Ltd., for a line of line Corriodalo fleeco. Ilcwlott, Mata, esting to note that Mr Hewlett’s flock was established with ewes bred by Mesrs. Evans Bros, in Southland. Messrs. Ellis Bros., of Killeynioon, Bulls, have just sold through Messrs. Wright Stephenson and Co. Ltd., ut a thrqo-flgure price, mi outstanding prizewaning one shear Southdown ram to a leading breeder in Tasmania. This rum, which is very thick and deep, with a perfect head and exceptionally well developed hind-quarters, is full of quality and is undoubtedly one of the best types of the breed yet exported. He is sired by the imported ram, Gattou Park Kll9, which was the best shearling rum in tho Gatton Park Stud at tho time of its dispersal. Gatton Park Kll9 has • bred exceptionally well at Ki I ley moon and four of tho top-priced rams at the recent annual sale wore sired by him. The dam of tho ram going to Tasmania is sired by l’ukenui 127 whose Owes havo been exceptionally successful as breeding matrons. Messrs Ellis Bros, who used cloven imported Sires in their Killeymoon Stud last year aro anticipating tho early arrival from England of last year's Royal Champion ram, Luton Hoo of 1935. This ram was undefeated in England in tho 1936 sea-
son, his record‘including the championship at all the leading shows. Ho was a King’s Cup winner. Ho comes from a famous lino of champions, his grandsire being the noted breeding ram, Luton .Hoo (51 of 1927, who was the most noted prizewinner of his time being the Royal Champion ram in 1934.
