From Our Own Correspondent Farewell Afternoon A farewell afternoon was held recently by the W.l. members, to farewell their popular president, Mrs W. Watkins, who is moving to Hastings. Games and competitions filled the time. Winners of competitions were, Mrs W. Hirst and Mrs Guy Udy. A roll-call was taken, each member having to say something about the departing president. Though this was rather serious at times, it caused much amusement. A novelty parcel was then passed around and ended up in the hands of Mrs Watkins. It was a silver serviette ring with a W.l. badge adhered. Miss A. Tweiityman spoke highly of Mrs Watkins. as did other members, and Mrs Watkins suitably responded. Afternoon tea was served and musical honours were accorded the guest of honour. Tennis Dance A tennis dance was held on Saturday evening to make an occasion for drawing the raffle of a hand-knitted (man’s) pullover. This pullover was made by Mrs Gifford and raffled by the Tennis Club to bring in funds for a new net. The holder of the lucky number was Mr Peter Jensen. Mr Allen Lawrence supplied the music and also acted as M.C. Supper was served by the members of the committee. Visitors were present from Pahiatua, Mangatainoka and Hamua. Among those present were Mesdames A. Mooney, floral; A. Murray, brown cellophane; Leo Udy, blue georgette; J. Gardiner, black; Ron Udy, lemon floral organdie; W. Hirst, blue windswept satin; E.
